The Broadcast Pioneers has lost one of our own, the legendary Hy Lit! The man may be gone, but his spirit lives on in everyone he touched.

On Wednesday, December 19, 2007, the Broadcast Pioneers of Philadelphia paid tribute to Broadcast Pioneers member Hy Lit at our December luncheon. It was our biggest luncheon in the 46 year history of the organization. 129 people were there.

It all took place on Wednesday, December 19th, at the beautiful and historic Bala Golf Club, 2200 Belmont Avenue (across the street from the State Police) in the Wynnefield section of Philadelphia. It's only minutes away from Channels 6 & 10 and the radio stations in Bala Cynwyd.

Broadcast Pioneers' past president Pat Delsi, who worked at WCAM when Hy Lit was on the station, introduced Broadcast Pioneers member Sam Lit (Hy's son) who had a few words about his dad. Our moderator for the discussion was Broadcast Pioneers member Tom Lamaine.

Our panelists included:

Don Cannon, who worked with Hy at WPGR, WSNI & WOGL
Carl Helm, longtime WDAS Air Personality
Bob Pantano of WOGL's "Saturday Night Dance Party"
Michael Tearson, from the Hyski Underground days at WDAS-FM
Dean Tyler, who worked with Hy Lit at WIBG
Bill Wright, Sr., the last of the original good guys from WIBG

Meet and greet (networking) started at 12 noon with a full-course lunch including salad, coffee or tea and dessert served at 12:30 pm.

Here's complete audio of the event. It's in two segments for quicker loading. Your Real Player will go automatically from segment one to segment two.
