We were rockin' and rollin' all afternoon as the Broadcast Pioneers of Philadelphia took a look back at the early days of Philly Rock & Roll. It all took place on Wednesday, February 20, 2008.

Our moderator was former WIBBAGE Good Guy and former president of the Broadcast Pioneers of Philadelphia, Frank X. Feller with introductory remarks by Bill Wright, Sr.,

Included in this fantastic panel were:

Joe Terry and Frank Maffei of Philly's own "Danny and the Juniors"
Ceasar Berry of "The Tymes " So Much in Love & You Little Trustmaker)
Billy Harner, "The Human Perkulator," a great blue-eyed soul singer
Billy Carlucci of "Billy and the Essentials" (Maybe You'll Be There!)
Billy Jackson of "The Revels" & A&R Man for Cameo-Parkway Records

Keep in mind that "Danny and the Juniors" and "The Tymes" have both had number one hit records. Everyone on our panel has had top records in our market. So, this was the event to attend if you love 50s & 60s rock and roll.

After the panel discussion, people stayed around for the group sing. Our president, Gerry Wilkinson, who produced much of the local Doo-Wop stuff on WHYY-TV always ended the night with a group sing made up of everyone involved. Since he also put this event together, it ended the same, with a group sing.

We started off this extravaganza with Les Waas with a humorous "report" on where exactly is "Our Hall of Fame." Then a quick rock and roll quiz. Winners got a DVD of classic television programs.

It all took place on Wednesday, February 20th, at the beautiful and historic Bala Golf Club, 2200 Belmont Avenue (across the street from the State Police) in the Wynnefield section of Philadelphia. It's only minutes away from Channels 6 & 10 and the radio stations in Bala Cynwyd.

Meet and greet (networking) started at 12 noon with a full-course lunch including salad, coffee or tea and dessert being served at 12:30 pm. There was also a cheese & crudité table. The cost was only $25 per person and was open to all our members, any person in the industry and all associated fields; both people now active and retirees. You did NOT have to be a member to attend.
