Claire Coleman
1953

This picture was taken while Claire was still at Temple University. She was, at the time, Traffic Manager for WRTI, the campus radio station.

One of the instructors was Broadcast Pioneers member Lew Klein of Channel 6 who would become her director when she became "Miss Claire" on WFIL-TV's ROMPER ROOM in 1954.

Claire, by the way, could have been one of our "First Ladies" of the United States, if history would have been just a little bit different. Coleman is married for former United States Senator Richard Schweiker (Republican of Pennsylvania). In 1976, Ronald Reagan selected Schweiker to be his running mate if he received the Republican nomination for President. He did not. Four years later, when Reagan did get the nomination and won the Presidency, he picked George Bush as his running mate. If Richard was just four years later.... Richard and Claire live in suburban Virginia, near Washington, D.C.
