TV Studio & Cooking Set
WFIL-TV
1952

Here's a photo of a Temple University television class held at WFIL-TV and dating from about 1952. Broadcast Pioneers member Ralph DiCocco was on camera. Ralph ran camera as his vocation for many years at Channel 3 & 6 after his graduation.

Also included at the refrigerator was Charles Shaffran, a WRTI station manager. Broadcast Pioneers Hall of Famer John Roberts looks on. Roberts, founder of WRTI-FM and co-founder of WHYY-TV was a Professor at Temple University for four decades and weekend newscaster for WFIL-TV from 1952 until 1972. This photo appeared in a WFIL Promotional Booklet, "Working Together," and promoted how the WFIL stations and Temple University operate a "cooperative program." The caption said, "Temple University students work out a camera and lighting problem in the WFIL-TV Studios."
