United Cerebral Palsy Telethon
1950

This picture is at an United Cerebral Palsy Telethon. They were held in New York City and we believe, at least for awhile that they were also held in Philadelphia. Gabby Hayes had his own television series on NBC-TV. An interesting side note is that one of the stage hands was a very young Fred Rogers before his moved in his own "neighborhood."

Roger Clipp was Walter Annenberg's right hand man and ran the broadcast stations for Triangle Publications which included the WFIL stations.

Jane Pickens was a broadway star and had her own TV show on ABC-TV in 1954. Dennis James was an old broadcast hand for both television and radio.

United Celebral Palsy Association was started in 1949 by Leonard Goldenson and his wife, Isabel among others. People in broadcasting may remember Leonard for being the first President of the ABC Networks.
