What does this photo have to do with broadcasting? Well, the instructor on the right is Dr. Francis Davis. You'll probably remember him better as Philadelphia's first on-air meteorlogist. He was on WFIL Radio and WFIL-TV (Channel 6) from 1948 to 1972.

When he moved to Hilton Head Beach, South Carolina, he started teaching AP Physics (Advanced Placement) for superior high school students. Those who passed the course and a written test could receive credit when they went to college.

Of course, this wasn't Davis' first venture into teaching. He was head of the Physics Department at Drexel University from 1963 to 1970. Then he became the Dean of the College of Science at Drexel. He retired in 1988.
