This photo was taken in 1946 at WFIL Radio in the Widener Building, a neo-classicism limestone high-rise structure in center city Philadelphia.

The subject of the picture is a WFIL broadcast which was aired live coast to coast each week on the ABC Radio Network. "The Choraleens" was a famous "tenage girl" chorus. This 22 voice choral group was very popular just after the Second World War. Shown at the extreme right is Edmund "Skipper" Dawes who was the program's director and narrator. Broadcast Pioneers member Jim Felix is seen at the extreme left. He was the show's announcer. Mil Spooner was the organist for the broadcast. Spooner was the "Larry Ferrari" of the forties.
