Our next Broadcast Pioneers luncheon was a "Tribute to Dick Clark and American Bandstand." It was held at the Bala Golf Club, 2200 Belmont Avenue in Philadelphia on Wednesday, December 19th (that's the third Wednesday of the month). Meet and Greet at 12 noon with lunch at 12:30 pm. Our MC was Corky Warren. We also had a special recorded greeting from Kari Clark, Dick's wife since 1977.

Jerry Blavat, legendary Philadelphia air personality & dancer on Bandstand
Steve Caldwell, one of the original singers of the rock & roll group, "The Orlons"
Billy Carlucci, lead singer of the rock & roll group, "Billy & The Essentials"
Ron Joseph (RJ), Philly air personality and dancer on "American Bandstand"
Bill Kelley, "American Bandstand" Dancer & member of our Board of Directors
Lew Klein, Executive Producer of the ABC-TV show, "American Bandstand"
Frank Maffei, of the rock and roll group "Danny and the Juniors"
Dee Dee Sharp, the legendary soul singer of "Mashed Potato Time"
Bonnie Nadley Silvestri, a dancer on "American Bandstand" during 1961
Ray Smith, a producer for the NBC-TV "Today Show" & former show dancer
Arlene Sullivan, an "American Bandstand" regular dancer/celebrity
Joe Terry, of the rock and roll group "Danny and the Juniors"
Bill Wright, Sr., Legendary WIBG "Good Guy" & Bandstand performer

It all took place at the beautiful and historic Bala Golf Club, 2200 Belmont Avenue (across the street from the State Police) in the Wynnefield section of Philadelphia. Only minutes away from Channels 6, 10 and 17 and the radio stations in Bala Cynwyd.

About a month before this luncheon, Broadcast Pioneers member Bill Russell passed away. He had worked at Channel 6 for decades and was involved in the production of Bandstand. Member Steve Sacks remembers Bill.
