At the Editors Desk, Lauren Lipton!

Lauren Lipton is a familiar name to the thousands of people who listen to KYW Newsradio every weekday morning. She has been guiding the top morning drive show from the KYW editors desk for several decades. A reporter, anchor, and editor for KYW Newsradio since 1985, Lipton’s voice is well known to KYW listeners from her award winning “Positively Philadelphia!” reports heard Sundays and Mondays.

Before joining Newsradio, Lipton was a reporter, producer, and ultimately executive editor for CBS 3 (KYW-TV). Longtime radio listeners in the Delaware Valley will remember her newscasts on WFIL Radio (as Lauri Lipton), one of the most successful “Top 40" radio stations in the country at the time, where she was the station’s first female anchor.

She also was the first woman to cover the Army Navy game. Back in 1973 she was sent to cover the game with a press pass that said "LADIES NOT ADMITTED TO THE PRESS BOX." After that day, press passes for the Army Navy game were changed and that line was NEVER used again.

She has won numerous awards for her journalism work including a special honor presented by President Ronald Reagan at the White House for a news series on volunteerism and Associated Press awards for best television newscast and best feature. She also was inducted into the Temple University Lew Klein Alumni in the media Hall of fame.

In addition to her work at KYW, Lipton has been a part-time faculty member at Temple University, and the University of Pennsylvania.
