Charlene Horne, CBS 3’s Emmy Award-winning video editing supervisor, began her career with KYW-TV as an intern for the groundbreaking show Evening Magazine in 1977. Following her internship there, the programming department hired the recent college grad as a production assistant/researcher for a new, live-format show, AM/PM, which later became "People Are Talking" hosted by Maury Povich.

Eventually, Horne transitioned from Programming to the News Department where she was quickly tapped for the coveted Westinghouse Management Training Program, launching her career behind the scenes of television news.

Throughout her years at CBS 3, Horne’s reputation for professionalism and creative solutions made her the editor of choice for City Lights and the Saturday Tribune, two of the station’s leading public affairs programs; Live Aid; the Republican and Democratic Conventions in Philadelphia; the visit of Pope Francis; the Philadelphia Phillies World Series runs, and many more news stories that have defined Philadelphia over the decades.

Despite a demanding schedule, Horne has always made it a priority throughout her career to mentor and advise young people in attaining their professional goals.

In 2014, the Philadelphia Association of Black Journalists named Horne its “Impact Award Honoree” for years of work shaping the images of people of color on television. Active in the organization, she has served as Vice President of Broadcast for PABJ for two years and currently is Chair of its Scholarship and Mentorship Committee.

Horne is a graduate of Penn State University where she received a Bachelor of Arts degree in Film-Television Production in 1976. A native of Philadelphia, she currently resides in Wynnewood, Pennsylvania. She has a son, Jaron, a Navy vet who is currently a student at the Art Institute.
