The Public Access Meeting Space

On Wednesday, August 1, 2007 at 10 am, there was a Broadcast Pioneers group tour of the brand new facilities of the CBS3/CW Philly 57 Broadcast Center. It's located at 1555 Hamilton Street (16th and Spring Garden) in Center City Philadelphia. The entrance is on 16th Street between Callowhill and Spring Garden. 53 people attended.

President and General Manager of the stations, Michael Colleran (a member of the Broadcast Pioneers) was host and there was coffee and donuts. Michael was tied up in a meeting most of the morning, but he did step out of the conference to say hi to us. We were divided into two groups, one led by Joanne Calabria. a vice-president for CBS (and a member of the Broadcast Pioneers) and the other one led by Broadcast Pioneers member Tom Lamaine who was doing the weather on the noon newscast.

We also were greeted by several other CBS3 people like Broadcast Pioneers members Pat Ciarrocchi and Carol Erickson. We also said hi to Broadcast Pioneers member Marciarose Shestack (a former Channel 3 news anchor) who was there as a guest on an upcoming public affairs broadcast. It was a wonderful time.

FYI - Philadelphia was home for the first building built for radio use (The WCAU Building at 1622 Chestnut), the first building built for television use (The WFIL Building at 46th and Market) and the first building built for HD television (The current CBS3/CW Philly 57 Building at 16th and Spring Garden).
