Harvey Holiday
WDAS-FM Studio
1975

This is Harvey Holiday when he was program director at WDAS-FM. He was in the FM studio in the main building when the station was located on Edgely Road just off of Belmont Avenue in Philadelphia. The FM studio was next to the AM studio and you gained access through a dark corridor that was about ten feet long. The FM studio had a large window that overlooked the towers and field surrounding the station while the AM studio looked into the hallway of the station.

The main building of WDAS was constructed in the mid-fifties on the site of the old Woodside Park. Broadcast Pioneers member Gerry Wilkinson (who took this photo) was Operations Manager of the stations from 1970 to 1980 and remembers Chief Engineer Bob Myers showing him a photo of the WDAS towers standing among the wooden roller coaster frame which hadn't yet been dismantled.

During the sixties, the stations expanded the main building by adding an eastern wing to the main building. When the seventies rolled around, the stations expanded one more time constructing "the new building" as the employees called it. Both the new and main building remained into the eighties. At some point, the main building was dismantled and today only "the new building" remains.
