circa 1953

Jesse Rogers was a radio star on WFIL and WJMJ Radio and then went on to a fabulous career during the early days of television. His first show was on Channel 3, WPTZ as "The Western Balladier." Rex Trailer had a similar show, also on the same channel.

Channel 3 originated "Ranger Joe" which was broadcast live over the entire NBC-TV network and originated from the old Camden Convention Hall.

Jesse's wife at that time was the legendary Sally Starr, a member of the Broadcast Pioneers of Philadelphia. Sally went on to be an icon in Philadelphia broadcasting. Sally appeared on the Ranger Joe program as Jesse's sidekick and singing partner.
