Bill Bransome
at the beach
circa 1938

Here's a picture of Broadcast Pioneers member Bill Bransome. He was about 20 years old when this photo was taken. Since Bill grew up in Bradley Beach, New Jersey (just south of Asbury Park), it is assumed that the beach in the snapshot was that of Bradley Beach.

By the way, Bradley Beach was where Captain Kidd anchored his boat in 1679. It is said that the pirate buried his treasure between two of the large trees on Brinley Avenue. The town has a population of 5,000 but increases six fold during the summer months. It was originally called "Ocean Park" but the name was changed in honor of one of its founders, James Bradley in 1871.
