Broadcast Pioneers of Philadelphia Luncheon

It was a double bubble with two great Broadcast Pioneers members; John Zacherle and the legendary Charlie Gracie.

Starting on the program was Broadcast Pioneers member Jane Norman, better known as TV's "Pixanne" who sang a couple of Christmas songs. Then John Zacherle was introduced by Broadcast Pioneers member Jimmy Hirschfeld who was the producer & director of Zach's "Shock Theater." Later Jim went on to be Executive Producer for "Captain Kangaroo" for both CBS-TV.

Yes, it was the always fascinating Broadcast Pioneers member John Zacherle next.

And we also had the ever wonderful Broadcast Pioneers member Charlie Gracie who had a number one record in 1957 called, "Butterfly." His recording was also on Cameo Records. In fact, Charlie knocked ELVIS PRESLEY out of the number one position.

The date was Wednesday, December 16th. It all took place at the beautiful Bala Golf Club, 2200 Belmont Avenue in Philadelphia! Just minutes away from Channels 6, 10 and 17 plus the radio stations in Bala Cynwyd. Plus, there was e a short tribute to WHHS-FM, Havertown, America's First over the air High School Radio Station.
