Tribute to Al Alberts!
Wednesday, February 17th!
What a Fantastic Time!

Former Kids (now grown up) from
the Al Alberts Showcase
Broadcast Pioneers of Philadelphia Luncheon
The Bala Golf Club, Philadelphia
Wednesday, February 17, 2010

If you liked the Al Alberts Showcase and the Four Aces, you loved this luncheon. Wow! What an event we had and it was all just for you!

It all took place on Wednesday, February 17, 2010, at the beautiful Bala Golf Club, 2200 Belmont Avenue (across the street from the State Police) in the Wynnefield section of Philadelphia. It's only minutes away from Channels 6, 10 and 17 and the radio stations in Bala Cynwyd.

At this fantastic luncheon, we’ll have the kids there (who are now adults) talking about Al and the show. Eddie Bruce, Ira Brown (billed at the age of 5 as the World’s Youngest Comedian), Rick Bossman, aka Rick Douglas and John Primerano were with us. They were on the program when it was on Channel 48 (The Al Alberts Talent Hour) and most stayed when it moved to Channel 6 in 1970.

And as a special treat, Eddie Bruce talked live on the phone with Showcase alumni Jarrod Spector, broadway star of "The Jersey Boys," and we had Al Alberts, Jr. also on the telephone live from Florida.

Plus, we had Dr. Brian McDonough from KYW Newsradio who told us stories about his time on Al's show wanting to sing a Jan & Dean hit, but the show ran long and he was cut. Also, Erica Marie Bupp, known then as Erica Gagliardi, was there as was Jennifer Wiener, who was "Little Miss Showcase of 1974."

Plus Jami Brenner Green and her husband, Stephen joined us plus Renee Ferst Grant, michelle Lawson, Donna-Lynne Dalton and Rick Bossman's daughter, Erica-Anne.

Plus, Sandee Clark Bengel who was a singer on the showcade and Rodney Robb, the WFIL-TV Account Executive who brought the Al Alberts Showcase to Channel 6 joined the crowd. He was one of the city's top sales TV guys and now runs the "Baby Boomers Talent Management" and "The Actors Center," both here in Philadelphia.
