With a career spanning more than forty years in television, Broadcast Pioneers member Mike Davis has a track record of extraordinary accomplishment in the marketing, advertising and promotion of local news programs. Through his four decades in the business his client list reads like a “Who’s Who” of TV: ABC, CBS, Cox, Disney, Gannett, Hearst-Argyle, LIN, Meredith, NBC, Post-Newsweek and Viacom.

For more than thirty years he was a key strategic thinker - as well as a creative force - behind the unparalleled marketing success of what is arguably the industry’s all-time, most successful local television news brand – WPVI’s Action News.

He has consulted more than 65 TV stations in 55 markets, from New York to Fresno, on the marketing and branding of their local news programs.

He has formulated branding strategies and created and produced extraordinarily effective, breakthrough news promotion campaigns for many of the most successful stations in the business: WABC-TV, KABC-TV, WLS-TV, WCAU-TV, KGO-TV, WHDH-TV, KXAS-TV, WJBK-TV, WGCL-TV, KPRC-TV, WSTP-TV, WJW-TV, WPLG-TV, KPHO-TV, KCNC-TV and KDKA-TV.

His credits as marketing strategist, writer, producer, director and executive producer include more than 300 news image and branding campaigns as well as 1,200 commercials.

His work has been honored with more than a hundred awards for marketing and/or creative excellence in both U.S. and international competitions: ADDY, ANDY, CINDY, CLIO, EMMY, NATIONAL HEADLINERS, OHIO STATE and TELLY.

He was the founder and CEO of two media companies (New York Communications and Michael Davis & Company) as well as a film and video production company (Prime Productions). He was also a founding general partner of one of the largest post-production equipment rental companies on the East Coast, Prime to Go.

Prior to opening his first business in 1974, Mike Davis held a number of media and marketing positions, all in the Philadelphia area: Promotion writer/producer for Triangle Broadcasting; documentary writer, producer and director for WPVI-TV; Director of Program Development for Capital Cities TV Productions as well as a writer, producer and director of nationally-televised sports programming, for Capcities TV.

Mike Davis is a lifelong Philadelphian, earning degrees from both Central High School and Temple University. He still does consulting and resides on the Main Line with his wife, Wynne.
