By the time of this 1993 Action News Promo, Action News was number one in the ratings for decades. Gary Papa was main sports anchor on the stations and its Sports Director. On Tuesday, August 3, 1993, a promo was made using Gary Papa's dad.

It was recorded by New York Communications, owned by Broadcast Pioneers member Mike Davis, who was the genius behind this and other Action News Promos. Mike Davis said:

That is Gary's dad. He was delightful to work with. A real trouper for a guy who had never done anything like that before.
