By the time of this 1981 Action News Promo, Action News was number one in the ratings for decades. The station didn't need t convince viewers to switch, they were already tuned into Channel 6. They were much more interested in keeping the viewer watching the station. Thus, the famous "There Goes That News Van" promo was born. The idea was to convince, quite effectively, that the station's news vans were everywhere.

It was recorded by New York Communications, owned by Broadcast Pioneers member Mike Davis, who was the genius behind this and other Action News Promos. Mike Davis said: " Remarkably the spot lives on in the language of Philly."
