The WCAU Building
1622 Chestnut Street
Center City Philadelphia
1948

In 1948, the year WCAU-TV came on the air, this building housed the offices and studios of WCAU, WCAU-FM and WCAU-TV.

This structure became the home of WCAU in 1931. Previously, they were at 1321 Arch Street for four years. This building was at 1622 Chestnut Street in Center City Philadelphia.

Not only did this ten story structure house WCAU, but from 1934 until 1938, it also housed KYW Radio which rented space.

When the WCAU stations moved to City Line Avenue, this building became the home of WHYY Radio (and when WHYY-TV came on the air, their home also). Today, it is the home of the Art Institute of Philadelphia.
