At our April 2011 luncheon, we will be awarding sixteen $1,000 scholarships to area college students. That's a record number of scholarships!

This year, we also had a record number of entries (322) from two dozen schools. Our scholarship committee has selected 32 finalists from all the entries. Finalists are now gathering their materials and will be submitting them to us for final judging.

Our underwriters are Broadcast Pioneers Vice-President Kal Rudman and the Adelmans, both funding two scholarships each. Plus, we have additional underwriting from Broadcast Pioneers member Esther Kurtz (in memory of her late husband David Kurtz, founder of B-101) and member Sylvia Kauders. We also received a $1,000 contribution from Phillies Charities and will be presenting a scholarship in Harry Kalas' memory.

In addition, we will be awarding two scholarships in memory of our beloved former Chairman of the Board and former President, Bill "Wee Willie" Webber. The funding for the remaining scholarships came from monies raised from our 2010 Person of the Year/Hall of Fame banquet last November. With 386 people in attendance, it was the most successful banquet in the history of this organization. Thanks and congratulations to everyone who made this possible.

This year's scholarship finalists come from the following schools: Temple University, Drexel University, LaSalle University, University of Delaware, Monmouth University, Neumann University, St. John's University, Villanova University, Cabrini College, West Chester University, Pace University and Rowan University.
