Warren Wright
1988

Warren Wright started in television in 1937 at experimental station, W3XE in Philadelphia owned by Philco. Before that, he was an actor at WCAU Radio, hired by then Program Manager, Stan Lee Broza, our organization's first President.

Broadcast Pioneer member Gerry Wilkinson (producer of this series) spoke with Warren Wright, creator of the children's show, "Willie the Worm" on Wednesday, April 18, 2000. The conversation took place on the phone and we reached Warren at his home in Indianapolis. Willie was said to be nearby.

This is the first in an on-going series of programs dealing with early Philadelphia radio and television. Some of the future programs will also have video.
