The Russo Sisters
circa 1943 to 1945
Helen Lipkin was the 14th President of the Broadcast Pioneers of Philadelphia (1976-1977). In the forties, Helen hosted a broadcast heard over WDAS Radio called "Kiddie Karnival." She played kids' music and chatted with children live on the air. We believe that all three of these photos were taken at the WDAS studios sometime in the early to mid-forties.
The Russo Sisters had a comedy act and became fairly well known in the Philly area. Joan Russo was the taller one with dark hair while the shorter one, Lois, had red hair.
