Broadcast Pioneers Luncheon, Bala Golf Club, Philadelphia
Wednesday, January 21, 2009
January was SPORTS TIME with the Broadcast Pioneers. Yes, it's our January 21st luncheon, again with a sports theme. These sports luncheons have been famous here in the Tri-State area. It all took place at the beautiful Bala Golf Club, 2200 Belmont Avenue in Philadelphia! Just minutes away from Channel 6 and Channel 10 and the radio stations in Bala Cynwyd.
Our topic was everything sports. This time, A SPORTS SPECTACULAR and our biggest sports event of the year! Everyone who's anyone was there. Our moderator for this exciting, stupendous event was Broadcast Pioneers member Joe Pellegrino.
Our panelists were:
Michael Barkann, Sports Anchor for Comcast Sportsnet
Bill Campbell, Dean of Philly Sports, heard on KYW Newsradio
Leslie Gudel, Sports Anchor for Comcast Sportsnet
Jim Murray, former General Manager of the Philadelphia Eagles
Merrill Reese, the voice of the Philadelphia Eagles
Bill Vargus, Sports Anchor for Fox 29 in Philadelphia
Plus, we had a Philly sports trivia quiz featuring audio from our archives. Winners won a DVD of Classic TV Shows!
Meet and greet (networking) started at 12 noon with a full-course lunch including salad, coffee or tea and dessert being served at 12:30 pm. There's also a cheese & crudité table. Cash bar was available!
The cost was only $25 per person and was open to all our members, any person in the industry and all associated fields; both people now active and retirees. You did NOT have to be a member to attend.
COMPLETE AUDIO! | Real Audio | Windows Media |
Above is complete audio of the luncheon. While both the Real Audio and Windows Media Audio are mastered from the same source material, in our opinion, the Real Audio sounds best and will load faster. Real Audio is divided into two segments. Once you have it playing on your computer, it will automatically switch to the second half at the proper time.
