The Broadcast Pioneers of Philadelphia has honored Larry Kane as our PERSON OF THE YEAR for 2002. Kane, a member of the Broadcast Pioneers, has spent 35 years in our market and has anchored news on Channels 3, 6 and 10. The event attended by 270 people took place on Friday evening, November 22nd at the Bala Golf Club in the Wynnefield section of Philadelphia.

Also at that time, we inducted six new members into our HALL OF FAME. They were: Jerry Blavat, Bill Bransome, Diego Castellanos, Edie Huggins, Ed Papazian and Dean Tyler. All except Huggins are members of our organization. Membership is not required for induction.

This event was a fundraiser to generate money for our scholarship fund. Earlier this year, we awarded 3 scholarships to area college students from proceeds generated at last year's banquet which was attended by 236 people. "It is hoped," said Broadcast Pioneers President Bill Webber (a 1999 Hall of Fame inductee), "that next year we will be able to increase the number of scholarships."
