Pulitzer Prize nominee for journalism and former columnist for The Philadelphia Inquirer, has been anchor and star of The WIP Morning Show since 1989.
Known for his comedic timing, exceptional wit and biting commentary, Angelo is one of Philadelphia’s most popular, entertaining and recognizable radio personalities. Cataldi’s cohosts in morning drive include Al Morganti, Rhea Hughes, Keith Jones and Ricky Bottalico.
Angelo was born on Tuesday, March 13, 1951 and he hails from Providence, Rhode Island. Though most of his friends were Red Sox fans, Cataldi loved the New York Yankees. He moved to the Philadelphia area in 1983.
He started on WIP Radio in 1988, co-hosting with Broadcast Pioneers member Tom Brookshier. The show was entitled, "Brookie and the Rookie." He's the co-author of the book, "The Great Philadelphia Sports Debate," (co-written with colleague Glen Macnow.
In 2012, he was also a Finalist for the 2012 Marconi Award for Major Market Personality. From the Sports Hall of Fame, he also won the 2012 award for Personality Excellence and Wing Bowl won for Best Promotion. On Friday evening, November 16, 2012, Angelo Cataldi was inducted into the Broadcast Pioneers Hall of Fame.
