Broadcast Pioneers member Dick Carr
After retirement, Broadcast Pioneers member Dick Carr decided to go back on the air as a volunteer for WAER, the Syracuse University public radio station.
In 2002, "Big Bands, Ballads and Blues" was fully developed and became nationally syndicated with the WOR Radio Network and WOR, 710 in NYC.
Dick has managed some of America’s great radio stations, WNEW-FM in New York City, WNEW 1130 also in the Big Apple, WIP & WMMR here in Philadelphia, WIL AM&FM in St.Louis, WGST in Atlanta and KCMO & KCEZ in Kansas City.
He was Group Vice-President of Radio for Meredith Corporation and served as VP for Programming for the ABC Radio Networks and Mutual Broadcasting.
Dick has also been Senior Vice President of Advertising & Promotion for Macy’s South and VP&GM for Park Outdoor Advertising in Central New York State. Consulting in Presidential politics, Dick handled National Radio for Bush/Quayle ’88. He is a former Captain, Field Artillery USAR, a graduate of St. Bonaventure University (Bachelor of Science in Economics) and is married to Phyllis. They live in Manlius, NY and have a large family.
