We had three outstanding speakers this month. All three are members of the Broadcast Pioneers. They were Dom Giordano, WPHT Talk Radio 1210 host from 9 am to 12 noon and Bob Perkins, evening jazz host on WRTI-FM from 6 to 9 pm. Plus Valerie Morrison was supposed to have been with us but she was injured working with Philadelphia Police on a missing boy case. In her place was the legendary Gene Arnold.
Since it's the holiday season, a Broadcast Pioneers luncheon isn't complete without a little bit of holiday music. We had"Pretty Perky Peggy King" of the George Gobel TV Show. Also with us that day was Billy Carlucci of Billy and the Essentials.
The Tridels (made up of Broadcast Pioneers members Mike Bove, Art Wilson and Jackie Strauss) were there with still more tunes as was member John Primerano. As a special treat, Broadcast Pioneers board member Bob Kravitz sang "The Dreydel Song."
This all took place at the beautiful and historic Bala Golf Club, 2200 Belmont Avenue (across the street from the state police) in the Wynnefield section of Philadelphia. Only minutes away from Channels 6, 10 and 17 and the radio stations in Bala Cynwyd.
