The Dean of Newscasting in Philadelphia just has to be John Facenda. In 1948, he started broadcasting news on WCAU-TV while still continuing his WIP Radio newscasts. Four years later, he was so busy with the television news that he stopped doing news on WIP.

On December 31, 1965, John Facenda was part of the evening news and the year in review broadcast on WCAU Radio. These two excerpts date from that broadcast.
