Broadcast Pioneers member George Finkel was the producer and Ted Nathanson directed the coverage. Before the game, Kate Smith sang, God Bless America." Ted Nathanson's real name was Benedict Gimbel III. After the divorce, he took his mother's maiden name, Nathanson. Nathanson was the son of Ben Gimbel.
