The Broadcast Pioneers of Philadelphia

Broadcast Pioneers member Linda Munich, Vice President of Public Affairs for 6ABC, WPVI-TV, Channel 6 in Philadelphia, was appointed to that position in January 1991.

She came to the WPVI-TV Public Affairs Department in June 1983, as a producer of various public affairs programs, and was also the producer of the once-a-year special "BEST OF THE CLASS" series which honors top high-school students in the Delaware Valley.

Linda had been the producer/host of "Good Morning" on Channel 6. Prior to that, she served as producer of the award-winning "VISIONS" program (hosted by Action News reporter Vernon Odom) and she was also the producer/host of "PERSPECTIVE" programs airing on Channel 6.

Before joining Channel 6, Munich had an extensive background in television public affairs programming and community affairs. From 1973, she was with WKBS-TV, Channel 48, Philadelphia in various positions gaining experience as Community Affairs Director, which included producing, directing and hosting news and public affairs programs; as Promotion Administrator, and as a Personnel Administrator. In addition, from 1971 to 1973, she was with The Bala House Montessori School as Administrative Director, where she originated the plan to expand the school's program to incorporate day-care.

From June, 1972, until her appointment at Channel 6, she was also Founder/Consultant for St. Joseph's University's Wynnefield Summer Program, where she developed and implemented the design for this cooperative recreation program. From 1965 to 1967, Linda Munich was employed as a Service Representative with Bell Telephone of Pennsylvania.

Linda received a Bachelor of Arts degree in 1974 from the Temple University College of Music, and she completed the Simmons College program for Developing Managers. She is an advisor to the Board of Directors of various organizations including Settlement Music School and the Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation, Philadanco, and the United Way of Southeastern Pennsylvania.

Linda is a firm believer in giving back to the community. She has been involved in many of the Broadcast Pioneers events for college students including our symposiums and our career nights. In 2010, Munich joined the Broadcast Pioneers scholarship committee which selects area college students to receive our scholarships.

On Friday, November 19, 2010, Linda Munich was inducted into the Broadcast Pioneers Hall of Fame.
