Note in the upper right hand corner of this picture, it's night time. Obviously, a back drop, this would signify that this was a nighttime broadcast.
Ed McMahon did two night time broadcasts while he was in Philadelphia. One was a 5 minute program aired daily at 11:25 pm after the News, Weather and Sports broadcasts. That was on WCAU-TV, Channel 10. Ed McMahon also pioneered local late night TV as the host of "McMahon and Company," a nightly television program aired over the NBC owned and operated station, WRCV-TV (now KYW-TV and a CBS O&O), Channel 3 in Philadelphia. The show started at 1 am and was live. We believe that this photo is from the 5 minute WCAU-TV broadcast. Why? The person who had the picture worked at Channel 10.

This is a closeup from the same picture. Note in the upper right side of this snapshot is an electrical cord running down the backdrop. The Black Cherry Wishniak soda in the glass quart bottle is Frank's which was a popular local brand at that time. That company is credit with developing and bottling the first Black Cherry soft drink. Their slogan for commercials was, "Is it Frank's, Thanks!" On the label, it says" It's the Best."
