For awhile in the late sixties and the seventies, WCAU Radio tried to compete with KYW Newsradio. The WCAU news format was called NewsBeat. While the station was a mixture of telephone talk and news, there were large blocks of time that were only news, mostly in drive time. We have in our archive a NewsBeat excerpt from Monday, May 1, 1972 and featured newsman Peter Gamble.
