(Left to right) Tiny Tim & Ed Sciaky
1968
This is a photo of Broadcast Pioneers member Ed Sciaky, who was at the time of this picture, a student at Temple University and a disc jockey on the campus radio station, WRT-FM. In 1968, Ed was visited by Tiny Tim, the ukulele playing, falsetto singing performer. Born April 12, 1932 as Herbert Khaury, he performed for years as Larry Love and Danny Dover. But it was as Tiny Tim (name assumed in 1960) that the 6 foot, 1 inch performer recorded his hit, "Tip Toe Through the Tulips."
Tiny Tim passed away at the age of 64 on Saturday, November 30, 1996 after finishing a performance of "Tip Toes Through the Tulips." The last thing he ever heard was the applause.
