Carla Carpenter joined WPVI-TV/6ABC in Philadelphia in April, 1997 as News Director for Action News, the Delaware Valley’s leading news program. She's a graduate of The University of Texas, where she received her BS in Radio-Television-Film.
Carpenter began her career as a News Reporter in 1979 at WLEX-TV, in Lexington, Kentucky. She then became Executive Producer and Assignment Editor for WBBH-TV in Fort Meyers, Florida; a News Producer for WAVE-TV, in Louisville, Kentucky.
Then, she became an Executive Producer for KSDK-TV in St. Louis, MO; Assistant News Director for WJBK-TV in Detroit, MI; and Assistant News Director of WLS-TV, the ABC Owned Station in Chicago, IL.
Carla has traveled more than 20 countries and went to high school in Germany. She was the first female on American Forces Radio Network at the age of 17. Her hobbies are painting, hiking, collecting 18th and 19th century books about books and book collecting, and reading.
