Caroline Welch
Vice-President of Programming
for 6ABC, WPVI
Growing up, Caroline Foy Welch used to be teased by her family for reading TV Guide cover to cover. Now, as Vice President of Programming at 6abc, WPVI in Philadelphia, she's getting the last chuckle.
Born in Charlottesville, Virginia, and raised in Boston and Washington, DC, Caroline was a religious studies major at the University of Virginia, before moving into a TV job with a small syndication company.
From there, it was on to the promotion department of Fox45 in Baltimore, and then to WPVI-TV/6abc in Philadelphia. As promotion progressed to the zippier title of creative services, Caroline moved up to running the department - which included the promotion staff, graphics, the web staff, and PR duties. She did this for seven years.
In 2004, she moved into programming (Vice-President of Programming), and now includes among her roles the job of executive producing all non-news local specials, including the 6abc/Boscov's Thanksgiving Day Parade.
