Kae Williams
WDAS Building
1968
This picture of Kae Williams was taken in 1968 in front of the WDAS AM & FM studios. The stations were located on Edgely Road, about a half mile east of Belmont Avenue in the Wynnefield section of Philadelphia. In 1971, WDAS built an additional building next (but not attached) to this one. The structure behind Kae no longer exists.
Broadcast Pioneers member Gerry Wilkinson, who was Operations Manager at the WDAS stations from 1970 to 1980 drove by the site in 2000 and saw that the original building (the one shown in this picture) was torn down. This location was the site of Woodside Park. Wilkinson said that he remembers seeing a photo, while at WDAS, of the station towers amongst the then abandoned roller coaster.
