As News Director for WFUN Radio in Miami, Florida, Broadcast Pioneers member Larry Kane flew on the Beatles' charter airplane during their 1964 whirlwind tour of the United States. Kane also traveled with the Fab Four in 1965 and 1966. His reports and interviews were aired over a network of fifty stations, coast to coast.

John Lennon told Larry Kane in 1964, Everything we do is influenced by American music. …Originally by people like Little Richard, …Elvis, Eddie Cochran, Buddy Holly." When Larry asked Lennon what his favorite oldie was, John said, "Baby, Let's Play House," Elvis Presley.

Paul McCartney told Larry Kane in 1965, my dad originally thought… "You're never gonna make any money being in a (rock and roll) group, and you may be enjoying yourself, but you've still got to have some money to help you live" …He said, get a job and do it in your spare time. …He's very thankful …I didn't take his advice.

In 2000 while appearing on a WHYY-TV broadcast (produced by Broadcast Pioneers member Gerry Wilkinson), Larry Kane said that the photo, he believed, was taken in flight over Kansas. He mentioned that at the time of this photograph, Lennon & McCartney were writing the song, "Eight Days a Week."
