Broadcast Pioneers of Philadelphia Luncheon
Randy Kraft was one of the earliest news anchors in Philadelphia. When he did the news, the anchors were not even called anchors but simply reporters. In just a few years in the late forties and early fifties, Randy was the news anchor on Channels 3, 6 and 10. He moved from station to station and finally went to New York City. Later, he played a recurring role on General Hospital.
During the week of December 24 to 28, 1951, Randy Kraft was doing the news on Channel 10 from 6:45 to 7 pm, Monday thru Friday. He also did the 11 pm to 11:10 pm News which was followed by five minutes of weather with Phil Sheridan.
On Wednesday, June 13, 2001, Broadcast Pioneers President Pat Delsi interviewed Randy Kraft exclusively for our webcast, "Pioneers in Broadcasting."

Be advised that this program was encoded in 2001 using the Snappy Deluxe, Version 3. While the audio was encoded in "real time," the video (because of the limitation of the Snappy) was not. Also, you will be viewing only 3 to 4 frames per second, instead of the normal 24 frames for film or 30 frames for television video. Because of the technology, the video may appear to be choppy and the audio and video may not always sync up properly. This is normal for material encoded with the Snappy. There is nothing wrong with your Real Player or computer.
