Action News anchor Monica Malpass was our speaker for our May luncheon at the Bala Golf Club, in the Wynnefield section of Philadelphia. We had a huge, wonderful crowd.
Monica came to WPVI-TV in January of 1988. Prior to that, she worked at several television stations and newspapers in North Carolina.
Monica received a Master of Arts degree in Political Science from Villanova University in 1999. She received a Bachelor of Arts Degree in Journalism from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill in 1983, was a Rotary Scholar to the University of Puerto Rico in 1984, and has an honorary Doctorate of Humane Letters from Neumann College.
We have the complete audio of Monica Malpass' remarks available right here on our website.

At that same luncheon, Jan Beaty, wife of long-time member John Beaty was present. When John passed away in May of last year, Jan asked in lieu of flowers, that people donate to the Broadcast Pioneers scholarship fund. Because of that, enough money was raised for us to award a $1,000 scholarship to Elizabeth Watts of Rowan University.
Pictures of the scholarship events are available now!
